BREAKING NEWS - I have been selected to speak at the Tech-Ed 2008 Developer's Conference

Tech-Ed is Microsoft's big technical education conference that they hold every year.  This year it is in Orlando from June 3-6 for Developers and June 10-13 for IT Professionals.  I have attended the past four Tech-Eds, first as an attendee, and for the past couple of years as a staff member, working in the Team System Learning Center area.

This year I get to try something new:  I've been selected as a session speaker!  I'm still reeling in shock at the surprise.  This is a great honor, and I plan to work as hard as I can to give a great presentation.

Click here to see the entire session catalog for Tech Ed Developer.

The title of my session is Applied Web Testing with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System.  Here is the current abstract:

Visual Studio Team System enables you to record and run tests against your Web applications. This session will cover how to create effective Web tests, including recording, running, and validating a Web test. You'll then dive deep into some of the more advanced Web testing features, such as creating coded Web tests, and creating your own custom validation rules. Throughout the session you'll also learn how Web tests are being used in the real world, by real people. This session assumes a basic familiarity with the Web testing aspects of Visual Studio Team System.

Needless to say, I have a lot of work ahead of me to try and put together what I hope is a great session on this topic. So, while I'm still in the planning stages of my talk, I want to get some feedback from you, my readers.  After all, ya'll are the ones who will (hopefully) be coming to listen to my talk.  So answer the following questions for me, either by leaving a comment on this post, or emailing me at mickey_gousset@hotmail.com:

  • What questions do you have around web testing that you would like to see answered?
  • Have you used the web testing tools, and if so, do you have any stories you would be willing to share?
  • What do you like most and least about the web testing tools in Visual Studio Team System.

Send me some feedback as quick as you can, and I'll do my best to incorporate it into my talk.

One last thing:  You can currently go to the session catalog for Tech Ed Developer and rate the sessions and leave comments.  Currently all you can see are the session titles, but if you go to the catalog and search for "Applied Web Testing" you will pull up my topic.  I encourage you all to go rate my session, along with any others you might be interested in, and leave comments there as well.  I don't know if those comments get fed back to me or not, so make sure you send them to me too.

I forsee a lot of late nights over the next couple of months trying to pull this together, but it is sure going to be a fun ride (remind me I said that about a month from now).

Don't forget to leave me some feedback.  :)
